Mites
|
| |
Mites are very small which makes
them difficult to spot in their early stages.
Sometimes the feces of the mites will actually
be visible before the mites themselves. In general
mites like the soft skin of the lizard which can
be found below the harder scales as this skin
is easier for them to grab ahold of. This makes
it easier for the mites to avoid detection from
the human eye until the infestation has progressed.
A qualified veterinarian can provide an appropriate
solution which will alleviate your lizard from
the mite infestation. If your lizard does in fact
have mites it is not enough to simply have them
removed from your lizard as they will continue
to exist in the lizard’s habitat which can
cause an almost immediate reinfestation. Be sure
to clean the habitat thoroughly before reintroducing
the lizard to it.
